Jack Karlin

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. Jack Karlin, age 90, died Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Daughter's of Sarah Nursing Home surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Karlin was a 50 year resident of Schenectady. He was an accountant for the CDTA prior to his retirement in 1980. Jack served in the Army for five years during World War II in both the U.S. and Europe. He enjoyed summer camping with his family, theatre and classical concerts. During his entire life, Jack was a fervent supporter of peace and social justice issues. He was strongly involved in community activities and a democratic committee man and political activist. He loved the company of his family and friends. Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Gladys; his two sons, Roy and his wife Jane of New York City and Michael and his wife Lisa of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Paula and David. A memorial service will be held on December 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home. Those who wish may make contributions to Habitat For Humanity for Hurricane Katrina victims, Hospice of Albany County or a cause of one's choice.
