James Chaskey Obituary
Chaskey, James CHAZY James "Jimmy" P. Chaskey, 53, of Chazy, passed away suddenly on July 5, 2012 at his home in Chazy, after a long illness. He was born in Plattsburgh on May 2, 1959, the son of Harold and Margaret "Peg" (McGaulley) Chaskey. Jim graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in 1977, he then graduated from Clinton Community College with a degree in accounting. Jim worked for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for more than 30 years as a production foreman and sometimes known as the unofficial vice president for morale. He always had a quick wit, a good joke and the glint of the mischief in his eye. Jim was a sports enthusiast (Go Irish!) and supported a variety of local sporting events, especially his son's soccer team (Go Chazy). He liked year-round hiking and camping, water skiing, snow skiing and time at the lake. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Jim had a huge family as he considered all of his friends family. He took great pleasure in helping his sons grow into the fine young men. While those of us left behind will greatly miss him, we can all rest assured that when we join Jim in the hereafter, he will greet us with a "How Ya Doin," assure us that things are "Just Peachy," and he will have done all the necessary maintenance that needed to get done. We will also forever be reminded that paper towels are for show not to be used, put everything next to the refrigerator so you only have to open the door once to save electricity and plastic bags can be washed out and reused many times. Jim was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Michael "Mick" Chaskey. He is survived by his two sons, Chase Chaskey, and his wife, Erin, of Albany, and Cole Chaskey, of Chazy; three brothers, John Chaskey, and his wife, Diane,of Burden Lake, Thomas Chaskey, and his companion, Terry Caron, of Plattsburgh, Dr. Harold "Skip" Chaskey, and his wife, Erin, of Plattsburgh, and a sister, Patricia Holcomb, and her husband, Richard, of Plattsburgh; his nieces and nephews, Caitlyn, Taylor, Nathan, Kimberly (and her husband, Jamie), Josh, Carter, Conor, Evyan, Elizabeth, Declan, Liam, Rachel and Colleen and three great-nieces and nephews, Madden, Sylvia and Zachary. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh.
