VENICE, Fla. - Jane L. Roth, 78, of Venice, Fla., passed away Monday, October 27, 2025. Born September 14, 1947 in Oceanside, N.Y., she was the daughter of Oliver McElroy and Eleanor Fetscher McElroy. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Ronald M. Roth. She is survived by two sons, Dan (Holly) of Venice, Fla., and Alexander (Sara) of Averill Park, N.Y.; a sister, Judy (Joseph) Darweesh of Pittsford, N.Y.; and a brother, Oliver (Karen Hardy DeLaurier) McElroy of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Samantha, Kyle, and Logan; nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Jane was a kind, outgoing person. She loved the water, the beach, the Adirondack Mountains, cooking, quilting, sewing, and socializing with friends and family. She was the second child of Oliver and Eleanor. She was close to both of her siblings, Judy and Oliver. Jane went to the University of Albany and graduated with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education, and later earned a Masters in Education Administration from the College of Saint Rose. She spent most of her career teaching and working in school administration in upstate New York.
In 1967 Jane met Ron, and they were married in February 1968. They had two children, Dan and Alex. Jane was a member of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club, and Friends of the Schroon Lake Library. She was a supporter of the Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake, and was active in the Venice Area Quilters Guild.
Jane will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Jane touched each and every person, and especially students, that she met and has left many memories that will be cherished forever.
