Jane Smith Obituary
RENSSELAER - Jane E. Smith, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She was born in 1934 to the late Henry and Laura (Dorr) McDermott.
Jane will be remembered as a very loving and caring grandmother, whose fondest memories are of spending family time at Cape Cod. She enjoyed family get-togethers for the 4th of July, but particularly looked forward to Christmas time together. Jane always put her family's needs above her own.
Jane is survived and will be greatly missed by her adored children, Kathleen (David) Haggerty, and Jim (Maryann) Smith; her grandchildren, Andrew Haggerty, and Alexandra and Jimmy Smith.
Along with her parents, Jane is predeceased by her beloved husband, George J. Smith Jr., and sister Mary McKeever.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. to the W.J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday, October 18,2023, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.

I went to high school with Kathy and always enjoyed Mrs Smith. She was a kind and caring person who loved her family so much. I am sorry to hear of her passing and Kathy's illness. I miss her greatly.

I grew up across the street from the Smiths. She was always very nice to me. I always appreciated how nicely she kept her home, inside and out. Prayers for her family.
