Jeanne F. Hicks

PERU, N.Y. Jeanne F. Hicks, 86, of Peru, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in St. Albert, Ontario on June 22, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Quenneville) Forget(te). She was a certified school teacher and taught in the province of Ontario prior to her marriage. She married Norris Hicks, May 6, 1940 in Ottawa, Ontario. He died May 11, 1982 at the Albany Veterans Hospital. Jeanne was a devoted homemaker. She was a generous woman who made everyone around her feel loved and special. Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond A. and Anna Hicks, Frederick J. Hicks and Gene N. Hicks, both of Peru; one daughter, Martha H. Burns of Peasleeville; two sisters, Agathe Dignard of Casselman, Ontario, Theresa Dupuis of Moose Creek, Ontario; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, Rita Forget(te) Gordon of Whitehall, N.Y. and Georgette Forget(te) Denn of Albany; cousin, Antoinette Quenneville of Delmar; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins in Vt., N.Y. and Canada. She was also predeceased by two sons, James H. and Michael B. Hicks. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
