VOORHEESVILLE - Jeffrey T. Buley, 63, passed away at Albany Medical Center on April 25, 2023. While his passing was sudden, he was surrounded by loving family and friends on the day he left us.
Jeff was born in Poughkeepsie on February 24, 1960. He is survived by his father, Theodore H. Buley of Woodland Pond at New Paltz N.Y.; his daughters, Rachael and Clare Buley; his sister, Susan Buley Antoinette and her husband, Peter of Ballston Lake; nephews, P.J., Nick and Andrew Antoinette and Nick's wife April; his longtime girlfriend, Carolyn Kerr, and Carolyn's children, Jack, Putnam, and Lila Kerr. Jeff was predeceased by his mother, Lois A. Buley and his dog Casey.
Jeff was a graduate of Bucknell University and was an outstanding member of the Bucknell golf team. Jeff's love for golf continued throughout his lifetime and he won numerous golf tournaments and achieved 4 holes in one, his first at the age of 15. He was a member of Dutchess Golf and Country Club in Poughkeepsie a most recently served on the Board of Governors for Albany Country Club. Jeff was an avid sports fan of the NY Mets, NY Jets and LA Dodgers.
Jeff was an accomplished attorney, specializing in election law, healthcare law and related transactions, and government relations at the government relations firm of Brown & Weinraub. He served in many distinguished positions, including as Special Counsel to Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, Counsel to the New York State Association of Counties, Chief Counsel to the New York State Senate Health Committee, and the longtime Counsel to the New York Republican State Committee. He also served as counsel to numerous state, local, federal, and presidential campaigns.
Jeff was a deeply dedicated father, and his love for his daughters knew no bounds. Jeff was loved by so many people and was also a fantastic son, brother, uncle, partner, colleague and friend. He had the biggest heart, the best jokes, and endless stories. He helped so many people who were fighting addiction, and many owe their lives to him. We cannot begin to describe the hole that he has left.
A service in memory of Jeff will be held on Thursday, May 4, at 4 p.m. at Albany Law School, 80 New Scotland Avenue, 4th Floor of the 1928 Building in the Dean Alexander Moot Court Room. Main Entrance and parking for the school are off Holland Avenue. A celebration of Jeff's life follows at Albany Country Club, 300 Wormer Road, Voorheesville NY 12186.
