Jeffrey MacGregor Obituary

MacGregor, Jeffrey P. COHOES Jeffrey P. MacGregor passed away unexpectedly Friday morning on January 10, 2014. Born in Schenectady on July 20, 1985, Jeff attended Niskayuna High School, HVCC, and SUNY Albany. Jeff resided at Columbia Gardens in Cohoes and was employed by the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. Jeff believed there was nothing more important than family and couldn't have been a more loving and thoughtful young man. He had a soul much older than his years, a warm smile, and had an amazing sense of humor. Jeffrey had a heart of gold and wouldn't hesitate to lend a hand to anyone; making a donation to a stranger in need or just being there for a friend. He never judged people and accepted everyone for who they were. Jeff enjoyed watching football and basketball games, horse racing at Saratoga, and playing slots and table games at Foxwoods. He enjoyed hanging out with his family at the lake house on Thompson's Lake, looked forward to his annual family trips to the Florida ocean and just like his Poppy, enjoyed reading books and watching movies about gangsters and the Mafia. Jeff is survived by his parents, Patti and Bill MacGregor of Niskayuna; his sister, Rachel MacGregor and her fiance, Chris Mandeville of New York City; his grandfather, Bill MacGregor of Guilderland; his aunt and uncle, Debbie and David Beale of Colonie, who thought of him as their son; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and pets, Koko and Marlee. Jeff was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Irv and Rose Lichenstein and his paternal grandmother, Helen MacGregor. Jeff's family would like to thank his co-workers in the Bulk Sales Unit for being such caring and loyal friends, especially Ross, Cheryl, Michelle, Mary, Marilyn, and Denise. Private services were held. A celebration of Jeff's life will be announced by the family at a later date. In honor of his memory, the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (mohawkhumane.org). I want to offer our sincere condolences to Jeff's family and friends. I have fond memories of Jeff during his high school years. He was a wonderful friend to our son, Adam. He was so patient and caring with Adam. Jeff, Kevin and Adam had some great times together. Jeff was always so outgoing and could talk as easily with me as he could his peers. He was a joy to know and my heart goes out to you during this difficult time. Sincerely, Art and Sharon Dyer

Jeffrey, my sweet nephew,

Oh How I miss your big, warm smile and loving, comforting hugs. I still cannot believe you are gone!! As tears stream down my face, you are at peace. I will always love you and miss you, Jeffrey. You accomplished a lot in your life and I will always be proud of you. I always looked forward to our fun thanksgivings; I always hated when you would leave early because the fun would be over!! May you always rest in peace, honey. Love, Aunt Lori.

Dear Jeff,

Your uncle & I can not believe that you are gone. You were the son, that we never had. I will miss your emails from home. Or you and your family would come over for dinner and have my Lemon Chicken and or Lasagna. We are so thankful that we had Florida last year, and or going to see Andrew Dice Clay. We had tons of fun. We were so "PROUD of YOU" in "EVERYWAY." You were our "ROCK/GEM" to us. We will truly miss hearing your greeting of "Hi Aunt Debbie & Uncle David"- or your laughs as well-let alone your friendly smile. We will truly "MISS YOU" - "TREMENDOUSLY" "Love YOU ALWAYS," Aunt Debbie & Uncle David - You will "ALWAYS" be in our "Hearts & "SOULS" and "MIND." "Rest in Peace Jeff" "WE LOVE YOU" "BIG TIME"

I am absolutely heartbroken. I can't put into words what a kind and loving soul Jeff was. He was one of the most generous and giving people I had ever met in my life. So dependable, going out of his way for someone without thinking twice. Always happy to see me, always brought a smile to my face. He was so kind to my family as well. My mom and I were just talking about all the times he came over to my parent's house, always bringing a bottle of wine or asking if he could help with something. I remember one day he walked into my house with an (expensive) simple human garbage can that was on my wedding registry. He said he wanted to get me a gift for my bridal shower. lol I said Jeff, you don't have to do that. He said he wanted to. That was one of the cutest and funniest moments.

Jeff was a fixture at my house for months - having one of the best summers of my life with him and other friends. I will never forgot those times. Although our friendship wasn't as strong over the past few years, I thought about him frequently.I wish I had stayed closer to him and could have been there for him more. When I think about Jeff now, I don't cry. I just smile and remember that amazing smile of his. I know he would want us all to remember him in a positive way.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I'm sure he is in a better place now, looking down upon us, just happy to know that we are all thinking of him.
