John Adamson Obituary

Adamson, John V. NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. John V. Adamson, 59, of New Smyrna Beach passed away January 24, 2014. He was born to Mary (Wolfe) and Douglas Adamson on January 20, 1955 in Rochester. John graduated from Guilderland Central Senior High School in 1973 where he was active in football, lacrosse, track, and basketball. John then attended University at Albany (State University of New York) where he played lacrosse and football and graduated in 1977. As a college football player, he was able to play under Coach Bob Ford, who had a significant influence on his life. He was a hard worker and had a diverse career which included working for Procter and Gamble, Mars, and he was an insurance agent for the past 25 years. John moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., with his wife, Jacklyn R. Adamson (Donelian), and daughter, Julie R. Adamson in 1986, where he began working for Allstate Insurance. In 2003, he briefly retired then moved to his beach house in New Smyrna Beach, and opened a new insurance agency. John was a jovial man who brought joy to everyone's lives he touched. His jokes, laugh, and funny stories were very contagious and will be missed. John enjoyed taking rides in his 1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible, working on projects around his house, crossword puzzles, and hanging out with his friends. John was a beloved father who raised his 10-year old daughter after his wife passed away from lung cancer in 1993. He was also preceded in death by his father, Douglas Adamson. John will be sadly missed by his daughter, Julie R. Adamson (Alec Fabus); brother, Thomas Adamson (Jean Adamson); sister, Judy Zyniecki (Ed Zyniecki); aunt, Florence Snell; nephews, Loren and Dylan Zyniecki; business partner, Tara Corbin, and all of the friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Halifax Health-Hospice of Volusia/ Flagler (hovf.org).

Peace to all who knew John, or Julio for my prayers go to family and friends. He is missed but not forgotten for saying "I'll see you in the pasture" How so ...... he will tell you someday.

My deepest regrets to John's family and friends. I competed against John in high school and had to pleasure to compete with him at Albany State (football & rugby). A great athlete, a terrific person. Much too young.
