John Avellino Obituary

Avellino, John J. WATERFORD John J. Avellino, 50, of Lawrence Street, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. Born in Morristown, N.J. on May 8, 1968, he was the son of the late Sylvio "Sam" and Kathleen (Novak) Avellino. After the passing of his parents at a young age, John was raised by his uncle Joseph Novak and aunt Janice Nugent, who John knew his whole life only as Mom and Dad. A 1987 graduate of Voorheesville, John worked as a forklift operator for many years at Saratoga Brewery and most recently for Cascades in Mechanicville. John enjoyed hunting with his Dad and brother. He was a self-taught, at-home master craft beer brewer who took pleasure in sharing and watching others enjoy his creations. He loved spending time and taking walks with his beloved Jack Russell Terrier "Jackson." His interest in photography sparked a budding hobby that produced calendars for his friends and family. Survivors in addition to his Mom and Dad include his wife of 21 years, Mary Kay DiFucci Avellino, whom he married on October 4, 1996; his loving daughter Dianne M. Avellino, who he was able to see graduate from high school in a special bedside ceremony the day of his passing; brother Paul Novak and sister Jennifer Alford both of Voorheesville; brothers-in-law John, Paul (Justina) and Michael (Sara) DiFucci and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to the caring staff of Samaritan Hospital I.C.U., Dr. Dudek and the staff of NYOH. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 17, from 1-4 p.m. at the DeVito- Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville. A funeral service will immediately follow the calling hours at 4 p.m. Those wishing to remember John in a special way, are asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Ln, Latham, NY, 12110 or online at www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html in memory of John J. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. John and I wrestled together in high school and I remember him as a very kind person with nothing bad to say about anyone. He was a truly decent person that this world needs more of.

Mary Kay and Dianne,
I watch John grow from the days of wrestling in High School to present, He was a terrific kid that grew into an Awesome man, husband-father.. I am so honored to have known him. I will miss that smile. I also loved the photo's he would post after his walks. He had an awesome eye for the wilderness and its creatures. Please know I am here any time.. just give me a call..
