John DiDomenico Obituary

DiDomenico, John J. MECHANICVILLE John J. DiDomenico, 88, of Leonard Street, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, son of the late Frank and Mary DiDomenico. John had served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and participated in the Normandy Invasion and the march to Germany with the 96th Evacuation Hospital. After the war, John returned to his hometown and worked for the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. in Mechanicville as a mechanic and lab tech until the mill closed in 1971. John then worked as a head custodian with the Shenendehowa School District's Chango School for 16 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Carmela Caruso DiDomenico; his son, Frank and wife Diane DiDomenico of Selkirk, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Jennifer DiDomenico Wong and husband Joseph of Toronto and Lisa DiDomenico of Rochester; great-grandson, Oliver Wong; brother, Pat and wife Ruth DiDomenico of Mechanicville; and niece, Patricia Prince of Saratoga Springs. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Assumption-St. Paul Church, 121 No. Main St. Entombment in St. Paul's Mausoleum will follow. Visitation at the church on Monday from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of John J. DiDomenico. Frank;

I am so sorry to hear that your Dad passed away. He was a great man. I remember our childhood, and listening to him tell us about WWII, and looking through his photo albums. Then in my adulthood, I remember seeing him in Mc Donalds and talking politics.

I will keep him in my parayers.

Sorry to hear about her dad. I'll never forget all the good times we had as kids, especially when your dad took us to the Saratoga Spa course every Sunday.
