John J. Fosmire

WATERFORD John J. Fosmire, 69, affectionately known to his family as Puss, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 12, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. His loving family was by his side at the time of his passing. Born in Troy on February 1, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary B. Hayes Fosmire. John was a veteran and served proudly for the United States Army. In his spare time, he loved to play bingo and was a very creative person, especially when working with wood. It was on June 8, 1985 he married the former Nancy C. Grock. John was employed at one time as a maintenance worker for the Hilton Hotel in Albany. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at Don and Paul's Restaurant in Waterford. He was a member of Grace Church in Waterford. In addition to his beloved wife Nancy, John is survived by his children, Adam S. Fosmire of Waterford, Shawn J. Fosmire and his fiancee Erin Yelle of Waterford, John A. Fusco of Clifton Park, Melinda and Tom Wright of Waterford and Danielle and John Klinbeil of Clifton Park; his grandchildren, Lacey, Lindsey and Zachary Wright; a sister, Katherine Skadra of Troy; and four brothers, Thomas Fosmire of Saratoga, Charles Fosmire of Cohoes, Robert Fosmire of Fla. and William Martin of Troy; also a godson, Kenneth Smith and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Horan and Winifred Rivage. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday (TODAY) from 4-7 at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation. The Rev. Kathy Coons will officiate.
