John Hogan Obituary

Hogan, John Joseph, Sr.
SCHENECTADY - John Joseph Hogan Sr., 83, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Eddy Village Green, Beverwyck.
He was born on July 19, 1940, in Schenectady, to the late Patrick and Marion Hogan. John was raised in Schenectady, a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and SUNY, Cobleskill. After obtaining his associate's degree, he served in the U.S. Army for several years. Upon completion of his service, he attended and graduated from the college of St. Rose. John went on to work at the Governor's office, IBM and General Electric, where he had a long and fulfilling career, retiring in 1994. Early in his retirement, John and Sue enjoyed taking cruises and traveled extensively. John enjoyed actively serving his community. He was most proud of his service to the Carman Little League and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, where he was president of both organizations. John held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and enjoyed supporting them in their endeavors. One would often see John cheering on his grandkids at any of their various activities. He had a passion for golf and never missed an opportunity to play. John also loved photography and could often be found trying to capture that special moment.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Kay Sue Hogan; brothers, Patrick and Bernard; and sister, Margaret.
John is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Lashway of Guilderland; and his son, John Hogan Jr. (Sindee) of Cape Coral, Fla. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ian and Ellie Lashway of Guilderland; and by his sister, Mary Lou Cooper of Rotterdam; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center, as well as Eddy Village Green, Beverwyck, who took amazing care of John over the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., with service immediately following, at 1:00 p.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, N.Y. 12189.
