SOUTH GLENS FALLS John J. LaRouche, 70, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fort Edward, N.Y. on June 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence Graham LaRouche. John graduated from Fort Edward High School, class of 1951 and treasured many lifelong friendships over the years. On December 27, 1952, John married the love of his life, Lenita Bennett at St. Cecilia's Church in Warrensburg, N.Y. He attended Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. from 1951-1952 and joined the Air Force on August 27, 1952. He was stationed at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas until being honorably discharged in 1956. He was a sports editor for the Post Star for 15 years and retired from the Albany Times Union Sports Department in June 1996, after 24 years of service. His interests included Pop Warner football and Little League. He was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed working in his yard. John took great pride in his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a gentle and loving man with a heart of gold. He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church, South Glens Falls. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Lenita; three cherished children, Debbi Carroll and her husband Bob of Chicopee, Mass., Lauri Robillard and her husband Paul of Queensbury, John D. and his wife Brenda of North Attleboro, Mass.; six precious grandchildren, Robert Carroll of Los Angeles, Calif., Russell Combs of Glens Falls, Rachel Robillard of Worcester, Mass., Brianna, Brandon and Ryan LaRouche of North Attleboro; a brother, William LaRouche and his wife Kimiko of Hudson Falls; as well as several aunts, uncles; cousins; and a nephew. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. John Weinhold and his staff, Dr. Monn and the angels of 3W Oncology at Glens Falls Hospital for their care and support. Special thanks to Father Robert Nugent and Sister Donna Irvine . A funeral Mass was held at St. Michael's Church, South Glens Falls on Tuesday, December 14. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in South Glens Falls. Pallbearers were Joe Friers, Russell Greenwood, Bob Carroll, Paul Robillard, Russell Combs, Ernie LaRouche, Mark Burns and Eric Chaplin. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Burns, Ralph Guy, Ralph Russo, Frank Bennett, Louis DiFiore and Robert Carroll.
