John Noradki Obituary

Noradki, John BENNINGTON, Vt. John Noradki passed away peacefully on October 14, 2007 at the Bennington Veterans Nursing Home. He was born on April 11, 1920 and grew up in Ushers on the family farm, but living his adult life since 1956 on Rt. 146 in Clifton Park. John was the son of Katherine (Zych) and Joseph Noradki. On August 23 of this year, John's partner in life his loving wife, Barbara, passed away. John mourned her every day since then. In addition to his wife, John was predeceased by brothers, Steven, Joseph and Edmund; as well as sisters, Genevieve Kessler and Stella Wojtaszek. John was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church. During World War II, John served in the United States Navy and was a member of first crew to set sail on the battleship USS Massachusetts, his name being amongst those listed on a plaque located on the ship commemorating the maiden voyage. During his tour of duty, he served in the American Theater and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. He was honorably discharged in 1945. When John moved to Clifton Park, he became member of the Clifton Park Fire Department when Clifton Park was a small rural community. In addition, John was a life member of VFW Post 1498, a life member of The American Legion, a longtime member of the Mechanicville Stillwater Elks Lodge 1403 as well as a member of the Polish National Alliance. In 1982, he retired after a long career with the Delaware and Hudson Railroad out of the Mechanicville location. John is survived by his children, Valerie (Jeffrey) Robinson of Ballston Spa, Ron Noradki (Sandy Sturtevant) of Halfmoon, Patty (Thomas) Bourne of Sandwich, Mass. In addition his loving sisters, Sophie Skiff of Buskirk, Stasha Optiz of Halfmoon and Clara Norris, also of Halfmoon mourn his passing; his grandchildren, Adam and Kristen Hamilton of Ballston Spa, and Ethan Bourne of Sandwich also survive him and remember him as a doting grandfather. Calling hours are Friday, October 19 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1579 Rte. 9, Clifton Park. A Christian Mass of Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Church on Saturday at 12:00 in Ushers, N.Y. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Mechanicville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in John's name to the VFW Post 1498, c/o Arthur DeVoe, 13 Cardin Dr., Halfmoon NY 12065.
