John Rapp Obituary

Rapp, John George
HUDSON - John George Rapp, age 73, of Hudson, passed away on September 24, 2023.
John was born on June 23, 1950, to William and Vivian Rapp in New Rochelle, N.Y. He was born premature and wasn't expected to live. However, he lived a full life thanks to the care of his family and the many services provided by the staff at COARC. John was visually impaired but had a phenomenal memory and never forgot someone's name or their date of birth. He loved the weather and could tell you the current temperature and forecast.
He was predeceased by his father, William H.; his mother, Vivian R.; his brother, William C.; and his twin sister, Trudy J. Colburn. He is survived by his sisters, Vivian L Vogel (Dr. Al Vogel) and Dr. Linda Rapp-Bennett (Dr. Jesse Bennett); and three nephews, one niece and several great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the many staff that provided services to him for over 40 years, especially the care by the present residential staff at his Ravish Road group home.
There will be a celebration of John's life at the Bates & Anderson Funeral Home in Hudson. Calling hours will be on Saturday, September 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery.
His life was a gift to all and brought much happiness and joy to those who knew him and we treasure those memories.
"But eyes are blind, you have to look with the heart." de Saint-Exupery
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to COARC, P.O. Box 2, Mellenville, NY, 12544, in John's name.

John enjoyed life and had a great sense of humor. He could brighten up your day with his animated talk and laughter. I really enjoyed the time I spent with him as my brother-in-law
