ROTTERDAM - On the morning of May 17, 2023, John P. "Jack" Twardy, 86 of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully at the Glendale Nursing Home.
Jack was born in Albany to Fred and Sadie Twardy. He graduated from Roessleville High School in 1955 and went to work at Tobin Meat Packing Company for the next 20 years in the payroll department. Jack loved to tell stories about how he met his wife, Carol during their employment. Jack also served in the N.Y. Army National Guard for nine years.
Later in life, he worked for the Schenectady County Sherriff's Department for 13 years and retired. Jack and Carol relocated to Murrells Inlet, S.C. in 2005 and enjoyed many years with friends. Jack was an active member in the Schenectady Liederkranz until it closed and the Elks Club.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol (Poopsie); and his parents. He is survived by his children, John (Jamie), Tim (Beverly), and Debbie (Bill); his grandchildren, Charice, Brett, Alex, Ryan, Kyle, Evan, Sean, and Josh; and great-grandchildren, Victoria, Prince and Dominick. Jack is also survived by his two brothers, Robert and Fred; and his sister, Joan.
His children would like to thank Joan and Garry VanOrt, Bob and Betty Twardy, Fred and Carole Twardy, and all of their children for their love and support these past few years.
Jack was affectionately known as "Pops" and has a special place in the hearts of all his "adopted" children including, Greg Miller and Scott Straight and their families.
The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Glendale Nursing Home and especially to Anne Tedford.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 21, from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park. A celebration of life will be held in July.

Jack, and Carol too were the GREATEST. Inlet Oaks sure became an active community when they moved in. We sure had good times on our adventures from New York to Florida and further south. We became the best of friends from the get-go it seemed like we had known each other for a long time. You are very much missed and your children too. Hope the four of us meet again. Until then just know how much you're loved and missed. See you in the hereafter. Love to you both..Jim & Sandie
