Joseph Dean Obituary

Dean, Joseph P. WESTERLO Joseph P. Dean, 89, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Joe was born in Ravena, son of the late Peter and Antoinette Dean. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving during World War II. Joe retired in 1982 as a detective captain from the Albany Police Department. After retirement, he served as judge for the Town of Westerlo. He was a life member of the Ravena VFW, a member of the Albany Elks Lodge 49, the Marine Corps League and the Tri-County Council of Vietnam Veterans. Joe was predeceased by his wife, Helen A. Dean. Survivors include his children, Peter Dean, Charlene Robbins and Alan, Lawrence and James Dean; grandchildren, Joseph Robbins, Deborah Speckhard, David Dean, Amanda Wilson, Sarah Dean, Julie Dean, James Dean Jr. and Isabelle Dean; great-grandchildren, Marissa Robbins, Rachael Speckhard, Jillian Wilson, Ryan Speckhard and Rhys Wilson and his sister, Connie Abbadessa. Joseph was predeceased by his brother, Frank; sisters, Theresa and Frances; granddaughter, Sarah A. Robbins and grandson, Staff Sgt. Thomas D. Robbins. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions, in memory of Joe, may be made to Tri-County Council of Vietnam Veterans, P.O. Box 11100, Albany, NY 12211, or the Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 5084, Albany, NY 12205.

Joe's Family,
I was soorry to read of Joe's death. He had been at Kenwood Manor for only a short time. I was pleased to know him and to give him Holy Communion each Thursday. I'm sorry I couldn't join you for his services. I put your name in our parish prayer book.
