PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Joseph J. Laviano, 74 of Port St. Lucie, Fla. formerly of Albany, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024. He was born in Castiglione di Sicilia, Italy on January 22, 1950.
Joseph dedicated his life to serving others, spending over two decades with the Albany Police Department from 1973 to 1996, retiring as a Detective. He continued his service as the 911 Communications Director for Martin County, Fla., from 1996 to 2013. For Joe, his work was not just a job but a calling. He built lifelong friendships and collected many stories and memories we will carry with us always. He lived a life defined by service, integrity and love.
Predeceased by his parents John and Rosaria "Sarina" Laviano and sister Angela Laviano- Casale. Joe is survived by his wife Beverly J. Laviano. His loving children Joseph (Nicole) Warfield, Danielle (Jeremy) Waligory, John (Megan) Laviano, Christopher (Lucia) Laviano and stepdaughter Heather Auer Doran. His cherished grandchildren Joseph Warfield, Maelin Warfield, Mason Laviano, Camden Laviano, Brayden Laviano, Luca Laviano, Lorenzo Laviano, another grandson on the way, Zac Auer, Andrew Doran and Peyton Doran. Also, many nieces, cousins and dear friends. His brother Vincent (Angie) Laviano and his sisters Mary (Frank) Bolognino and Carmella (Bill) Pompa.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and support during this difficult time. The love and bond we all share with him will always remain with us.
Relatives and friends are invited by our family to honor Joe's memory Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, located at 125 Eagle Street, Albany, N.Y. 12202.
A repass will take place after mass on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Italian American Community Center located at 257 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, N.Y. 12205 at 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
