Claudia, Christian and Family,
I worked with Joe for over 24 years and have many fine memories. We talked sports alot, like when Joe told me the story in 1986 about how he was all ready to celebrate his Redsox beating my Mets for the world series. Then how he watched the Mets come from behind to win. He took it stride. He was a good person, always thinking of his family. He once changed my shift so I could start out on a trip to Colorado a bit early. I said Thanks Joe, I'll bring you back a shirt. He said you don't have to do that. If you want, bring one back for my son. I did just that. I'll miss you Joe, as we all will.

It was our pleasure and privilege to be Joe's neighbor. I'll always picture him on the back deck, enjoying a cigar and a few quiet words with Charlotte, our cat. His gentle ways, his smiling eyes, his commitment to family - he was an inspiration for all of us. We loved him, we'll miss him, we're always here for you Claude and Chris - even though we're not right next door anymore.

I am privileged to have known Joe for the past two years. Joe has a quality where he immediately treats you as a long-time friend or family member and I often have to remind myself that I had only known him for a short while. There are not enough words in the world that could explain the sorrow we feel that Joe has left us.... He was truly a great person....... Claudia:
It's so funny how you don't see someone for years and suddenly reconnect. After high school I didn't see Joe until our children entered the middle school and we would see each other at their various activities. Joe was always quick with a smile and a hello and I was given the gift of meeting you. Our paths have crossed several times in the past four years and I will miss him at future school events. It's truly a tragedy for you and your son to lose someone so special to you both. I hope you are somehow comforted with the knowledge that Joe will always be with you both in spirit. Years ago, in the halls of RCS, I remember a happy, kind and fun to be with, Joe Tiberia. Although many years have passed, we met up again at a wedding and I had the pleasure of meeting his wife and hearing of their child, Christian. I'm so sorry to have heard of Joe's death. My deepest thoughts go to you two in a time like this. Although I can not sympathize with you I can empathize how this situation affecting your lives. Sometimes I think to myself ‘why can’t villains and ‘bad people’ die suffering with cancers, not the quiet innocent?’ But every time I ask myself this question it just makes me angry with the world, God, and myself. This is why death is so hard to accept and understand. Joe was a great man. Always humble and modest, and there to listen to what you had to say. His personality and attitude, was perpetually enlightening. Joe was a breath of fresh air. The world has lost a wonderful man. Joe is always in my prayers as well as you. Remember love never dies.

I sat thinking of all the memories we shared and how life certainly repeats itself - your dad being a C.O., you marry a C.O., you being an only child - you have one child. You lost your Dad at very close to the same age as your son lost his father. Very strange how these things happen.
