NASSAU - It is with immense sadness and broken hearts that the Marrero Family announces the unexpected passing of their beloved, Juan Bruno Marrero, Sr., 61. Juan passed away on November 16, 2024, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Troy, Juan was the most-cherished son of Juan and Carol Marrero. Juan was educated in the Troy and Lansingburgh School Districts. He was the President of Custom Creations, a business he founded and nurtured with his son, which specialized in building and installing custom-created cabinets and kitchens. Most recently, Juan worked as a self-employed carpenter throughout the Capital Region and Northeast. Juan was a loving father, PePa, son, brother, and friend. He loved the outdoors, spending time at his summer camp on Lake Champlain, hunting with his son and friends, and tooling around in his truck. His most favorite thing to do, however, was doting on and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the absolute apples of his eye.
Juan leaves behind to cherish his memory his most-loved son and daughter-in-law, Juan Jr. and Kali Marrero; and his three precious grandchildren, Paisley, Wyatt, and Weslyn. Juan is also survived by four sisters, Shirley (Mark) Kepner, Bonita (Wayne) Moseley, Lori (Todd) Frazier, and Amy (Joe) Reheusser, who all loved him with their whole hearts. Juan was the uncle of Mark (Don) Kepner-Clough, Jennifer (Dan) Kryzak, and Emma Frazier. Also left to cherish his memory are Juan's extended family, his dear friends, Henry Swartz, Wayne Hyuck and Richard Garrow, and his former wife of 38 years, Candy. Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Carol.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 4-7 p.m., in the William J Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer. Funeral services will be Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
The world has lost one of the truly all-time greatest guys way too early and we will never be the same without him. Go in peace and rest easy, our dear Juan. You deserve it and it's well-earned. We'll take it from here. We love you. Until we meet again.
