Katherine M. Bruns

Bruns, Katherine M. GRAFTON, N.Y. Katherine Marie (Dooley) Bruns, 65, formerly of Grafton and now Troy, died Saturday, October 20, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Leo T. Bruns Sr., currently of Troy. Born in Cambridge, N.Y. on February 21, 1942, Marie was the daughter of the late Francis and Rita (Thornton) Dooley. She was educated at schools in Hoosick Falls and worked at various places throughout her life. Her last employment was at the Price Chopper in Troy, N.Y. as a supervisor. Marie was a former member of the Grafton Rescue Squad and the Grafton V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Grafton and an avid member of the alter and rosary society. She also organized their thrift shop and food pantry for several years. Survivors besides her husband include five sons, Leo T. (Georgann) Bruns Jr. and Daniel Bruns Sr., both of Brunswick, Francis (Catherine) Bruns of Grafton, Sean (Debra) Bruns of Waterford, and Richard (Elisa) Bruns of Pleasantdale; four sisters, Donna Martin of Adams, Mass., Elizabeth Sbrega of North Hoosick, Theresa Dooley Patalino of Schaghticoke and Rita Dooley Bugbee of Hoosick Falls; two brothers, Thomas Dooley and William Dooley, both of Hoosick Falls. Marie is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. She is predeceased by a sister, Margaret Weather-wax. Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Thursday, October 25 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Father Ken Gregory will preside over a service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. John Francis Regis Church or the charity of your choice through the funeral home.
