MECHANICVILLE - Katherine Russell Notro, 96, of East St., Riverside, died peacefully in the comfort of her home, on January 20, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville, on February 23, 1928, daughter of the late Charles and Mulvina Russell; she was the wife of the late James Notro.
Katherine was a dress maker for the former Korell Dress Company in Mechanicville, until it closed, and then later for Ursula of Switzerland, Waterford. A lifelong member of All Saints on the Hudson Parish, she enjoyed being in her home. On a nice sunny day, she would bask in the sun outside on her patio, but when inside, enjoyed the many western shows she would watch on television.
In additon to her husband, James; she was predeceased by her sisters, Jennie Palmer, Theresa Mokay, Alice Peterson, and Helen Kenyon; and brothers, Charles, John, Robert and Edward Russell Sr. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and their families.
Katherine's family wishes to offer sincere thanks to Community Hospice of Saratoga, as well as Erin, Carissa, and Megan, for the care and time that allowed Katherine to be home, where she was most comfortable through her life ending journey.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning, from 10 – 11 a.m., at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 N. Main St., Mechanicville, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in her memory to community Hospice of Saratoga, 310 S. Mainning Blvd., Albany, N.Y. 12208, in her memory.
