Frieder, Kathleen "Katie" COLONIE Kathleen "Katie" Frieder, 91, the loving wife of the late Harold Frieder, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at home. She was born in Brooklyn, settling in Albany and then Colonie with her husband Harold, 66 years ago. Katie was the beloved mother of Alice Pelletier and adored grandmother of Ashley Villanueva. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Katie was predeceased by her parents, Helen and John Murray; and her two sisters, Eileen (Kelly) and Maureen (Lewis), her twin. Katie worked in the service industry. She started waitressing in Brooklyn and it was there that she met her Harold. Once they relocated to the Albany area, Katie waitressed at many restaurants including Schraffts, Lerner's Delicatessen, Kirker's Steakhouse, the Silver Spur Restaurant, Fannie's Restaurant and many more including the Buttery and finally the Circle Diner in Latham. Katie was known by many for her love of baking. Over the years, friends came to love Katie's baked treats especially her rugaluh cookies and her carrot cake cupcakes! Her daughter and granddaughter want to thank all who friended Katie through the years. They especially want to thank those who helped care for Katie in her last years, especially Jazella Lewis, Wendy Jukes, and Dr. Roberta Miller, and the Community Hospice team. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Katie's family on Monday, September 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. All attendees are respectfully required to wear a facial covering or mask. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
