WESTMERE - Kathleen Mary Perrego, 81, of Westmere, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 2. She was a loving mother of Kathleen; sons, Robert, Thomas (Teresa), Michael, and Gregory; grandmother of Dylan, Gianna, Katie, Sarah, Zoe, and Mila; "special grandmother" of Summer; and an aunt of many loving nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Matilda; her siblings, Judith, Paul, Shirley, and Stephen; and her son, Joseph. She loved being a mother and grandmother most of all. She had great artistic talent and created beautiful gardens.
She avidly supported the Pine Bush Preservation and spent many hours volunteering at the local theater and Girl Scouts. She was very intelligent, having worked as an early computer programmer for over 25 years at the New York Department of Taxation and Finance. Many people's lives were touched over the years as a result of Kathy's service to family, education, and the arts. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
Friends and family are invited to Kathy's wake from 9-10:30 a.m., on Saturday, December 14, at New Comers Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Her Celebration of Life starts at 10:30 a.m. to noon. The Burial will follow at 1 p.m., at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3rd Ave. Ext., Rensselaer, with a gathering afterward at Orchard Tavern West, at 2050 Western Ave., Guilderland, from 2-5 p.m.
