My apologies that I am many years late to offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kenny LeBel. As with many people who have left a lasting, positive impact on our lives, Kenny definitely influenced mine.
I wanted to remember Kenny - with gratitude - from my pre-teen years when I was a competitive figure skater on Long Island. Kenny was employed by the Great Neck Park District at the Parkwood Ice Rink where I practiced several days a week. It was my good fortune that Kenny took an interest in my potential during my skating sessions and encouraged me to always strive to improve and to expect more from myself. His motivation was key to my training, as well as the "pep" talks that he gave so freely.
Kenny was in top athletic form during those years, which was a testament to his discipline and firm belief that rigorous training was more than just words. Following his own ambition to skate faster and jump farther, Kenny consistently delivered both and inspired me to do the same.
May his rest be eternal

I remember Kenny in Lake Placid. I remember Lebel's Motel and how hospitable everyone was. The family was a welcoming family and everyone loved Kenny and his speed skating. Thank you for welcoming my family to Placid and now RIP my friend.

My thoughts and prays go out to the entire family, Kenny always had a smile on his face and made me laugh. He loved a good home cooked meal, I will always remember sharing a few of those with Kenny and Diane. God Bless.
