Laverne Hayden Obituary
Hayden, Laverne
SCHENECTADY - Laverne L. Hayden was a lifelong resident of N.Y. State. He passed away at home, on September 25, 2025, after a longtime illness and failing kidneys. He was born in Ballston Spa, N.Y., to Mary Willard (Plumbo) and Leonard Nelson Hayden. He graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1977, then went on to serve in the army for about four years as a sniper and rifleman. He then continued to serve in the army national guard for many years.
He was a professional floor layer for many companies for over 27 years, until his knees would no longer allow the work. He was very good with tools and many machines, mostly cars. He was a lifetime lover of fishing and being outside. He was often outside enjoying the sunshine and listening to music. He was an avid lover of animals of all kinds and loved to watch his lizard, and spent many hours with his cat, Knox, in his lap. He loved watching sci-fi and all things zombie related. He also loved to collect anything with wolves on it, from dreamcatchers to statues and various pictures with wolves. He even loved clothing with wolves on it, especially hats. Spending time with everyone he loved was his greatest joy.
He was married to Rebecca Hayden (Whiteley), and had two children with his first wife. They are Leonard L. Hayden and Missy Hayden, who are both residents of Schenectady, N.Y. He has a younger brother named Timothy Hayden; and two younger sisters, Brenda Hayden, Debbie Brady (Hayden); grandchildren, Patrick Hayden, Tyler Hayden, Treavor Hayden and Leeanne Hayden. He was a positive role model for his children and grandchildren, stepchildren and many nieces and nephews, and a fierce friend to many people. He will be missed and remembered forever. He is leading a new pack now and will always be with all who knew him. Rest now, wild and free, but run with us forever. We all will always run besides you in our hearts. Farwell and we were all blessed to know and love you. Howl to the moon forever. The service for Laverne will be held at Gerald B.H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, which is located at 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, N.Y. 12871, on October 15, 2025. Services start at 11 a.m., but please arrive before 10.30 a.m.
