Lee Vanderpool Obituary

Vanderpool, Lee E. NASSAU Lee E. Vanderpool, 69, of Nassau died on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Albany Memorial Hospital. Lee was born in Albany to the late Joseph and Mary Vanderpool. He graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1966. Lee worked for Conrail and later retired in 2007 as a conductor for Amtrak Rail Road after 35 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a life charter member of the AM.VETS. post # 797, Veterans of Foreign Wars Local post # 8162 Nassau and the American Legion. He was much beloved by his family and friends. Since retirement he found much enjoyment in spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Predeceased by his sister-in-law, Pamela Whelpley. Lee is survived by his wife, Nicole (Romanchak) Vanderpool; two daughters, Michelle (Shaun) Baxter and Lisa Vanderpool; two grandchildren, Seamus and Maya Baxter; one brother, Joseph Vanderpool; two brothers-in-law, Bruce (Linda) Romanchak and Ronald Whelpley; nieces, Emily Hayden and Sasha Romanchak; and nephew, John Michael Karic. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc. 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or AM.VETS.

Lee was one of my best friends and we spent a lot of fun times playing ping pong, camping, riding through the country and just generally enjoying life.
