Leona Bentley Obituary

Bentley, Leona Mae PITTSFIELD, Mass. Leona Mae Bentley, 76, of Watson St., Pittsfield, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield following a long illness. Born in Stockbridge, Mass., July 19, 1932, the daughter of Frederick Rathbun Sr. and Florence Rushbrook Rathbun, she attended the local schools. Primarily a homemaker, she worked for a time as a dietician at the former Hillcrest Hospital. Mrs. Bentley was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church and the American Legion Post 68 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing pitch, and was a Red Sox fan. She and her husband, Richard Bentley were married April 30, 1955 in Pilgrim Memorial Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Dawn Bentley-Wilson and her husband Barry of Rensselaer, N.Y.; a brother, Walter Rathbun of Tyringham, Mass.; four sisters, Florence Gray of Pittsfield, Louise DeVanna of E. Granby, Conn. and Eleanor Sciola and Edna Rusiecki, both of Pittsfield; a grandson, Joel Wilson of Rensselaer; and her grand dogs, Haley, Lucky, Beau, and Baby Doll. Predeceased by a brother, Frederick Rathbun Jr. The funeral will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to either Hospice Care in The Berkshires or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
