I know that I am very late in the game in adding this message, but Lucy was a very kind soul who I remembered since 1958. Lucy and Sue are emblematic of the most wonderful Honig family. I am honored to be their cousin. And thank you Sue for remembering me after the 9/11 attack inquiring if I was okay. I think Sylvia Honig conveyed your kind concern. God bless you.

I met Lucy in December of 1993 when we were both awarded writing residencies at Centrum, Port Townsend. We saw each other a couple of times during that residency and made a special connection. We wrote to each other for a long time after the residencies ended. She had a positive spirit that could fill a room even without her saying anything. I thought she was amazing. We lost touch over the years. I saw her name mentioned in the obituaries listed in Poets & Writers.

Lucy was a special cousin. I have fond memories of her and Susan from childhood. She reached out to me when my mother died, and was extremely supportive. The world is a better place because she was part of it.

Lucy was both a brilliant writer and a generous mentor. Her correspondence and kind words never failed to bring me good cheer. It is hard to imagine the literary world without her. She will be deeply missed.

Just reread some of her work - brilliant! Book proudly given to me by her mom Jeanette, who I adored. (she was a hotline volunteer for a program I directed and a dear friend). I was looking up Lucy when I found this notice. Love to all of you. Such a bright star, gone too soon.
