Lucy Ducar Obituary

Ducar, Lucy M. WATERVLIET Lucy M. Ducar, 93, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 3, 2006 at her daughter's home in East Greenbush surrounded by her loving family following a short illness. Born in Cendella, Italy on April 11, 1913 to Nicholas and Pasqualina Pezzano DiLeva, Lucy came to this country with her family in 1921. She grew up in Troy and was educated there. She moved to Watervliet following her marriage in 1940 to her beloved husband, Joseph J. Ducar, who predeceased her in 1983. During the Korean War, she was employed as a crane operator at the Watervliet Arsenal and proudly served the war effort. She later was employed in the restaurant industry as a waitress and worked at a number of fine eating establishments such as Kirker's in Latham, Panza's at Saratoga Lake, and Morrisey's Tavern and the Trojan Hotel in Troy. Survivors include Lucy's cherished and devoted children, Charles A. (Virginia M.) Ducar of Binghamton and Jean A. Ducar, and her daughter #2, Beverly Ford, both of East Greenbush; her treasured grandchildren, Julie (Nicholas) Ducar Bennett of Medford, Mass., Kara (Brian) McGinnis of Port Ewen, Leslie Ducar of Rochester, Jacquelyn (Carl) Ford of New Lebanon, and Joseph (Cynthia) Phillips of Rensselaer; and four great-grandchildren . The family would like to extend special thanks to her aide and friend, Patti Valet and chaplain Tony and her case manager Raymond from Hospice for their devotion, support, and special care given to Lucy during her illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 9:30 at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway and at 10:00 at St. Patrick's Church, 515 Nineteenth Street, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Colonie. Friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions would be appreciated by the family to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 244 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
