Margaret Nylin Obituary

Nylin, Margaret A. NISKAYUNA Margaret A. Nylin (King), 88, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020. Margaret "Peggy" was born on October 23, 1931, in Oceanside, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Paul J. King of Croton, N.Y. and the late Nellie (Jones) King of Chateauguay, N.Y. She graduated from Oceanside High School as a member of the National Honor Society at which time she attended the Berkley School of Business in Manhattan. Margaret worked for the V.P. of Industrial Relations as a corporate secretary at Mack Trucks Inc. in New York City and then worked for Servomechanisms Inc. in Garden City, the company which developed precision sub systems for high performance jet aircraft, the black box computer; and as the secretary to the controller transferring with the Eastern Division to California as secretary to their government sales manager. Margaret returned to Long Island to work for Sylvania-Corning Nuclear Corp in Hicksville as secretary for the Engineering Management Department where she met her husband Jack who was a nuclear engineer. Margaret was always an advocate for a cause, writing letters and receiving correspondence back from many of our presidents and senators through the years dating back to the early 1950s. Margaret married the love of her life the late John W. Nylin on October 22, 1960, in St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre. The family moved to Niskayuna in 1966. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, dancing and spending time at the beach. Becoming a grandparent brought her such joy through the years and she truly knew what a gift a child was and she cherished every moment spent with all of them. Margaret is survived by her son Peter J. Nylin and his wife Jennifer; her daughter Cheryl (Nylin) Johnson; her son Paul W. Nylin Sr.; her grandchildren, Paul Nylin Jr., Gina Nylin, Cristianne Johnson, Taylor Joseph Johnson, Rhiannah Johnson, Logan Gabrielle Johnson, Brandon Nylin and Aidan Nylin; her great-grandchildren, Christiano Nylin, Dominic Nylin and Vincent Changa; her brother James King and his wife Judy; along with her beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. Margaret will be laid to rest with her husband in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. A memorial Mass and celebration of life will be planned at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha (St. Helen's Church) in Niskayuna where Margaret had been a parishioner since 1966, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY, 12204. For those who knew her, you knew her love of pets.
