Mark Mickiewicz Obituary

Mickiewicz, Mark Joseph
WATERFORD - Mark Joseph Mickiewicz, 65, died peacefully on 10 March 2024. Mark was the son of William Joseph and Caroline Martha Mickiewicz. He was born on 3 January 1958.
Mark lived a solitary life, enriched through woodworking, fishing, the experience of flight and the enjoyment of nature, gardening and cooking. He gave of himself by being present and caring for each of his grandmothers and his parents.
Mark graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy, Cohoes, and Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, earning an Associate's degree of Occupational Studies in Machine Processing. He was a member of the F. B. Peck Fire Hose Company, Northside/Waterford, New York. In January of 1990, the Saratoga County Volunteer Fireman's Association honored him for his heroic rescue of a neighbor from their burning home. He worked for 40 years as a Computer Numerical Control Machinist in the Research and Development Department of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Mark is survived by his brother The Very Rev'd David Wm. Mickiewicz and several cousins.
On Tuesday, 19 March 2024, the Funeral Liturgy will begin with the Reception of Mark's body at 9:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Albany, New York. Following a brief wake a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. presided over by his brother, the Rector of the Cathedral.
