Martin Siegel Obituary

Siegel, Martin
SCHENECTADY - Dr. Martin Siegel, born in the Bronx, July, 1929, to Murray and Fay Chesin Siegel, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by family and friends.
Dr. Siegel lived most of his life in Schenectady, where he graduated from Nott Terrace High and attended Union College. A Korean war veteran, Dr. Siegel served in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 54, before teaching elementary school in Schenectady. He then became the Director of Curriculum for a New Jersey high school district, until he retired in 1990 and returned to Schenectady.
Dr. Siegel was an actively involved member of the Agudat Achim synagogue community. He was predeceased by four brothers. He is survived by three sons, Benjamin, Steven and Barney; six grandchildren, his sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in honor of Dr. Siegel can be made to Congregation Agudat Achim Synagogue, Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue, or the Schenectady City Mission.
Funeral services will be held graveside today Thursday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m., at Agudat Achim Cemetery, 100 Mt. Stuart Rd., in Rotterdam.
