Martin Steinhilber Obituary

Steinhilber, Martin C. TROY Martin C. Steinhilber, 73 of Troy, passed peacefully after a brief illness on October 27, 2021, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Mr. Steinhilber was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1966 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1968 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. Marty formerly worked for the New York State Police and retired from the North Colonie School District as a bus driver. He was a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh (lifetime), Waterford Elks, Lodge 1500, Halfmoon American Legion, CRAB Club, Watervliet AOH (worked as a bartender), All Troy AC, Vagabond Club and the USA Boxing Association where he served as a referee and judge at the Empire Games. Survivors include his wife and best friend, Patricia Nikles; his brother, Robert Steinhilber (the late Mary); his sister, Gail Connor (the late Gary) and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his "partners in crime" Tommy Bain, Billy Neaton and Bob Butler. Friends are invited and may call on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Ave. (124th and 125th Streets) in Lansingburgh. Funeral service with full military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Marty and I met when he came to work for the State Police. I gave him a typing test that he had to pass to get hired. We became friends immediately. He was charming and funny. I have alot of great memories of Marty during our time at SP. Such a great guy. He will truly be missed. RIP my friend.

He is a part of our "state police forever family "
Even though we didn´t spend time in the last 20 years I was lucky enough to speak with him one last time in may It was like all those lost years didn´t exist..

He was so happy with his girl, friends and his buddies..

Friends since we met in, of all places, Sunday School. Been thru a lot with him. Was at our house most Thanksgiving Days and MANY trips to NYC to the Islander games.. So very sad to not have you around buddy..Rest in Peace my Dear Friend for life!!!!
