Mary Alexander Obituary

Alexander,
Mary Louise
SCHODACK - Mary Louise Alexander, 91, passed away, Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home, after a long illness.
Mary Louise was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on February 25, 1933. She was the daughter of Dr. Edward M. Thorndike, and his wife, Julia Louise Harmon Thorndike.
On August 16, 1952, Mary Louise, a student at Wellesley College, married Warren G. Alexander, of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., and transferred to Utah State University, where she finished her degree in mathematics as her husband finished his in Civil Engineering.
After college, her husband was employed in California a short time before being called to active duty in the army, requiring them to move to Virginia. Active service over, they moved back to N.Y., and bought a farm in Schodack, where they have lived until the present.
Mary Louise is the mother of six children, Mary Elisabeth Vooris, deceased, James Craig Alexander, DMD, Joanne Thorndike Stoddard, deceased, Candace Louise Alexander, Gail Thorndike Gormally, and Edward Warren Alexander, OD.
Mary Louise has 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren at the time of her death.
Interment of her remains will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Schodack. The date of interment and appropriate services are yet to be determined. It will be sometime in the spring.

Cousin Ginny Thorndike here.
I know I convey both my brother Bob and sister Nancy's condolences as well as mine.
The last time I was with Mary Louise was in 2005. She and Warren hosted my husband Irving Spitzberg as part of our trip to the celebration of Ed and Liz's 50th? wedding anniversary. We had a lovely time and met most of the children. We toured the farm in detail. Warren took Irving up in the plane and he loved it. I have photos of that visit.
Another time MaryLouise and Warren flew to New Hampshire and we met them when visiting Uncle Alan and Louise Thorndike. We probably went to the Thorndike Farm in Orford as part of that visit.
Eons ago I would play with Beth at Thanksgiving, usually at the Big House. She was only a few years younger than Choddy Thorndike (Alan's daughter) and me.
Mary Louise grew up just up College Hill from me, but she was so much older than me that I did not interact except at Thanksgiving. I went to Wellesley too.

I would be very happy to hear from family. I have been out of touch. I am soon to start working on genealogy and would love to share.
