Mary Firstiun Obituary

Firstiun, Mary L. COEYMANS Mary L. Martin Firstiun, 80, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Born in Hudson Falls, to the late Glenwood (Glen) and Lena Martin, Mary lived most of her years in Coeymans. She graduated from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School. Mary was a waitress for many years in Ravena and surrounding areas. Her hobbies included being a member of the Cornell Hook & Ladder Ladies Auxiliary, E.M.T. for the Ravena Rescue Squad, horses, camping, and being a dog show handler. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, John F. Firstiun Sr. of Coeymans; children, John F. (Monika) Firstiun Jr. of Germany, Steven T. (Lisa) Firstiun of New Baltimore, Lisa A. (Greg) Fabe of Delmar, Joseph M. (Theresa) Firstiun of New Baltimore, Melissa L. Sleurs of New Baltimore, and John F. (Amanda) Firstiun III of Averill Park; sister, Nancy Boomhower; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her siblings, Glen Martin, Elizabeth Ferriere, Marion Waldron, Martha Martin, and Robert Martin. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, in the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Interment will follow in Chestnut lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, October 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to the Cornell Hook & Ladder Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 37, New Baltimore, NY, 12124.
