ALBANY - Mary G. Runk, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Evergreen Commons Nursing Facility, after a long illness. Mary was born on January 15, 1941 in Oneonta, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Hector Giacobbe and Janet (Meehan). Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, puzzling, and spending time with her cats. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Americas Church (formerly Saint Patrick's Church), where she played an active role in the parish for years.
Mary attended Saint Rose College, and later returned to study to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Maria College. She was employed as an OTA at the Devereux School and Saint Coleman's home for years.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Zido and Christina Runk; a brother, Paul Giacobbe; a cousin, The Reverend Francis O'Connor; and three grandchildren, Steven C. Camburn (Danielle), Graciana Zido, and Ly Camburn.
She was predeceased by her spouse, Ronald E. Runk; and her sister-in-law, Maxine Giacobbe. Mary and Ron are now joyfully reunited in heaven after Ron's passing 25 years ago.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Tuesday, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., at The Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas, 273 Central Ave., Albany, N.Y., immediately followed by a Celebration Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions in Mary's memory be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands, N.Y.
