Matthew D. Callahan

Callahan, Matthew D. COHOES Matthew D. Callahan, 58, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, after a courageous battle with COPD. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen Callahan. Matt was employed by Jimmy's Pizzeria in Troy for 14 years before beginning his career with Hannaford Supermarket which lasted 21 years before his retirement due to his illness. He loved anything to do with classic cars, whether it was going to car shows or building models, nothing made him happier than being around classic cars. Matt will be remembered by all who loved him as a kind and generous soul who always put others before himself. Matt is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Gerrod) Jones, Ashley (Justin) Brunell and Britney Callahan; his brothers, Mark Callahan, Mitch Callahan and Mike Callahan; his grandchildren, Jayde, Patrick, Deserea and Carter; and his former wife, Donna Rossetti. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Calling hours for Matt will be held on Friday, April 9, from 5-7 p.m. at the Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet. A memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. following the calling hours where friends and family will be encouraged to share their fondest memories of Matt.
