Michael Alexandrov Obituary

Alexandrov, Michael ROTTERDAM JUNCTION Michael Alexandrov passed away suddenly at his home in Rotterdam Junction on Monday, August 25, 2014. He was born in Odessa, Ukraine and emigrated with his family in 1977, eventually settling in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. After living in California where he graduated from UCLA, Michael moved to the Capital District in 1993 to pursue an education in medicine at Albany Medical College. After earning his medical degree, Michael continued to live in the Albany area and develop his career as a psychiatrist, which included private practice, affiliations with St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, and medical directorship of Conifer Park in Glenville. In addition to his passion for medicine, Michael loved the arts. He was an accomplished writer, painter, and sculptor. He was also a great admirer of music and theater, especially opera. He collected art, antiques, and books; regaled friends and loved ones with singing and dancing; and relished the aesthetic experiences of life. Michael also cherished animals and cared deeply for his pet cats and dogs. Those he leaves behind will remember him forever as a loving, caring person of keen intellect, great sense of humor, and abiding passions. Michael was predeceased by his mother Marianna Alexandrov, who passed away in 1993. He is survived by his husband William Fry of Rotterdam Junction; long-time companion Carl Roberts-Alexandrov; father Vladimir Alexandrov and stepmother Ludmila; nephew Konstantin Podolny and his wife Paige, and nephew Michael Podolny, his wife Krista, and children William and James. In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no public services at this time. However, a memorial is being planned for November. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in Michael's name can be made to the Schenectady County SPCA, P.O. Box 9516, Niskayuna, NY 12309. You will be missed dearly. I have some great memories with you. You shared many wonderful stories of your life with me. I will miss talking about cooking with you. I will never forget making Kielbsa with last Christmas, how we laughed at our success. I will miss working with you selling the treasures you found. I pray for release of all that troubled you, and may you find peace leaving this world

....Why does the pain hurt so deep when we rejoice so greatly at your life?....Why does the sun shine so bright when your smile isn't here to light the world?....Why does the show go on when you're not here to play the lead?....Why does the sea come to the shore if your not there for it to lap at your feet?....Why do the robins pick at the grass if your not there to chuckle at their fat bellies?....Why do
I have to ask myself why my darling. Why do I sit her with you not next to me? Why do I hear a gentle sigh and It's not yours? Why do I wake in the morning and you're not there to great me? Why do I go to bed at night and have no soft kisses from you? And the only thing that brings me any comfort at all is......They say "It makes the flowers grow"

I knew Dr. Michael Alexandrov from Conifer Park. I was the evening nursing supervisor/manager there a few years ago. He loved his work. He was an advocate for his patients there. He cared about the patients, and everyone in his world. He was too young to leave the world with all his talent and dreams. He truly will be missed. God bless him.

I am a part of this world. A firm believer in US, the living kingdom. So was he. Dr. Alexandrov, was a man who lived. He worked in giving... giving to US, the WORLD!
My condolences to his family.

I am so saddened to hear of Michael's passing. He was such a great guy. I met Michael while working for SPARC and enjoyed our conversations about his jewlery and have thought of him often. I am and will continue to keep his family and friends in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, my friend. You will be forever missed.
