Holtby, Michael E. SCHAGHTICOKE Michael E. Holtby, 70 of Carpenter Lane, died peacefully, in the comfort of his home, on December 9, 2021, in the company of his loving family. Born in Troy on September 13, 1951, son of the late Edward and Grace Cummings Holtby, he was a 1970 graduate of Waterford/Halfmoon High School. Michael was a truck driver all of his working life. He spent over 30 years with New Penn Motor Express before retiring about 15 years ago. Mike was a Hot Rod, Harley and car enthusiast. He was also a proud member of "Born to Run", a group of friends who enjoyed the company of each other. They visited many Bike Weeks and Hot Rod shows in their many travels. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Leigh Colligan Holtby, whom he married on December 14, 1974; their children, Adam and Kyra Holtby of Schaghticoke, and Danel (Dan) Bailiff of Hemstreet Park; grandchildren, Jace and Kooper Bailiff; his sister Donna (Bob) Tranka of Ballston Spa; brother, Martin (Connie) Holtby of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Holtby. There will be no services at this time. Future services will be announced when planned.
