Michael Levine Obituary

Levine, Michael H. CLIFTON PARK Michael Harris Levine, 30, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, unexpectedly of natural causes. Michael is survived by his parents, Dr. Fred and Sherry Levine; his sister, Kim; maternal grandparents, Jean and Abe Pavony of Brooklyn, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a good son, brother, friend, and incredibly protective of his sister, and there for her no matter what. He was adored by all. Being a 2005 graduate of Shenendehowa High School, he later graduated from The University of Rochester attaining a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. In college he was a volunteer E.M.T., and worked in lighting with the theatre group. He was warm, independent, caring and strong. He was inquisitive and an avid reader. He loved creating with food, being on the track, lacrosse and wrestling teams, and was a lifeguard. He was a double red blood donor, and volunteered to be a bone marrow donor. In the Boy Scouts he attained the rank of Star. He enjoyed summers working at Camp Chingachgook supervising the high ropes course, and enjoying outdoor wilderness. He left behind creative art in various mediums, and penned Haiku. He was insightful and sensitive. In professional work, he gleaned from international workers, learning a bit of Japanese and always respecting the wonderful differences that make this world sparkle. He taught his dinosaur of a mother things on the computer with the patience of a saint, and knowledge of a sage. Young and old alike found him likable and bright. He had a youth that will never leave him, and a wisdom that seemed premature. A memorial will be held at Emerick Funeral Home in Clifton Park on Sunday, April 2, from 2-5 p.m., with a participatory service promptly at 3 p.m.. where all are encouraged to share memories of Michael. Family will be sitting Shiva on Monday, from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, from 2-5 p.m., and on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's name to Memorial Sloan Kettering research, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10065 to honor his wish to help others. I miss you Mike. We only knew each other for a few years at the UR but you were one of the kindest, most genuine guys I knew. You were always going the extra mile for friends and people you barely knew and I miss our late nights working on lighting and event support and later helping me with tech for artawake. We loosely kept in touch after college but you were always so positive seeing the best in everyone. RIP friend, God bless you.
