DELMAR - Monica Mary Rutnik, age 85, of Delmar, N.Y., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Monica was born in Ausable, N.Y., on July 30, 1939, the daughter of Sidney and Mada Carron. She was the loving wife of Gregory Rutnik of 65 years; devoted mother to her five children, Greg (Beth), Denise (Harald), Carron (Joseph), Erik and Joshua (Kari); beloved sister of Robert (Joan), Phillip (Gail), Sheila (Richard) and Karol (John); beloved "Mimi" to her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Monica was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved family gatherings, shopping and lunching excursions, decorating her home for the holidays, attending races at Saratoga, as well as spending time with her faithful companions over the years.
Throughout her life, she was a wonderful mother, who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom and love in abundance. She maintained a deep, unwavering faith and drew strength from prayer and the word of God.
She served as an inspiration and model of courageousness for her family and everyone she met, as she persevered daily with incredible positivity and grace in the face of unrelenting health challenges. We find solace knowing that she is now free from pain and is joyfully reunited with her eldest son and the other members of her family that predeceased her, including her parents and both of her brothers.
Monica and her family were blessed to have numerous loving and dedicated caregivers throughout her life. Most recently, Nina and Lori, to whom we owe a debt of gratitude, as they have tirelessly provided her with dignity, loving care and friendship.
Monica's life will be celebrated with a private family funeral. In lieu of flowers, Monica's memory can be honored through a donation to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, or the Northeast Regional Food Bank. Online condolences may be offered at danielkeenanfuneralhome.com
