Nadine McNally Obituary

COHOES Nadine Irene McNally died on October 23, 2005 at The Eddy Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on June 22, 1932 in Orange, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Walter Gabriel Neff and Irene Winifred (Cagney) Neff. She graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in South Orange, N.J. and the College of St. Elizabeth. She married James W. McNally in 1954. Nadine devoted her life to teaching and helping people in her community. She worked as teacher for migrant farm workers in Moores, N.Y. in the early 1960s. She was a teacher at Ogdensburg Free Academy for many years until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, where she served as a eucharistic minister and lector. Nadine was a member of St. Mary's Adoration Society, the New York State United Teachers, and the Ogdensburg Educational Association. She volunteered her time to counsel and tutor many young students in the Ogdensburg School District. She was a devoted Carmelite Associate. She is survived by five children, J. Timothy McNally, Shauneen M. McNally (James Clyne), Michael P. McNally, Kathleen M. Connolly (Thomas), and William McNally. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Justin P. Gates, Matthew McNally, Sean P. McNally, Patrick McNally, Kathleen M. Clyne, James W. Clyne III, Alexander T. Connolly, Emma C. Connolly and Grace I. Connolly. Also surviving are three brothers, Fredrick J. Neff, Robert G. Neff and Paul A. Neff. Two sons, Joseph McNally and Patrick A. McNally and a brother, Walter Neff, predeceased her. The family wishes to thank everyone at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home and Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center for the compassionate care that they provided to Nadine in the last two years of her life. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home, 528 Franklin St., Ogdensburg, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Health Foundation, 2224 Burdett Ave., Troy, NY 12180.
