HALFMOON - Nancy C. Ryan, 78, of D & R Village, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, on October 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., on April 6, 1947, daughter of the late Patrick and Anna (Anderson) Smith; she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Charles "Chuck" Ryan.
Nancy worked for Travelers Insurance in Colonie for many years as a Commercial Line Underwriter, until her retirement in the early 2000s. After retiring, she and Chuck enjoyed many winters in Hudson, Fla. The family also cherished countless memories made together at their camp on Schroon Lake.
She loved crocheting, solving Sudoku puzzles, and was an avid reader and student of the Bible. Nancy was kind and caring (and sometimes lovingly bossy) and often volunteered her time at the Mechanicville and Schroon Lake food pantries.
In addition to her husband, Chuck; Nancy was predeceased by her siblings, Michael and Dennis Smith, and Patricia Revall.
Survivors include her sons, Charlie D. Ryan, Gary Ryan, and Jason (Michelle) Ryan; grandchildren, Dustin Ryan (Taylor Geerholt) and Christopher (Meaghan) Moll; great-grandchildren, Joel MacDonald and Lennox Moll; and soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter Ryleigh Ryan, whose coming brought Nancy so much joy. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Bartz, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Nancy's family wishes to offer their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Community Hospice and her caregivers, Jessica Thompson and Mary Jane Riel, for the care and compassion given to her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 2, starting at 11 a.m., at the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge, 300 Park Ave., Mechanicville, N.Y. 12118.
