Nancy Tellier Obituary

Tellier, Nancy Lee Hubright
COLONIE - Nancy Lee Hubright Tellier, 82, died August 22, 2025, as a result of a fall in her home. She was born in Newark, N.Y., to Jacob and Jennie Hubright, on September 14, 1942, and grew up as a farmer's daughter in Marion, N.Y. She spent many summers working on the muck land of her family's vegetable farm.
Nancy recently attended her 65th high school reunion from Marion Central School. She was a member of the Class of 1960, played the piano for most of the school concerts and was voted the most talkative girl in the class. After high school, she took nurse's training at The Genesee Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, N.Y., graduating in 1963, as a Registered Nurse. She had previously met Norman Tellier at an All-Wayne County Band Festival. Her band was coming off the stage, and his was going on, when the two lines stopped and they were directly across from each other. He drove her home that night, and they began dating, some of which was long-distance. Their relationship grew, and they were married on August 24, 1963.
Nancy was a woman who loved life and showed it by the roles she played. After moving to the Capital District in 1966, she took time off from her career to start a family. She later began working at Albany Medical Center as a high school sex education instructor, then moved to being a nurse in the Ob/Gyn department. Most of her 37-year career with the medical center was spent working in the Ob/Gyn clinic, where she was known as an efficient, empathetic and compassionate nurse. She was well loved by staff and patients alike. As a nurse, Nancy was adamant about caring for ourselves, so in retirement, she was an avid supporter and participant in the Silver Sneakers program at ABC Sports and Fitness, and urged many others to join the program.
Nancy was also a musician. She played the piano, especially at some church events, but she loved singing above all. She saw a call for singers for Albany Pro Musica, auditioned, and was accepted into the chorus. She continued to sing with them for over 35 years. After retiring from Pro Musica, she continued to sing in the church choir, Hudson-Mohawk Chorale and Octavo Singers. Nancy recently had the privilege of singing the Verdi "Requiem" with the Philadelphia Orchestra as part of APM. Many of her fellow singers say they will miss her voice and her wonderful spirit.
Although she excelled in the above roles, she always said that the most gratifying role she played was as wife, mother, and friend. Nancy was a full-of-surprises wife, who showed her love in so many ways. She loved her family deeply and showed it in her relationships with them. Her children will tell you that growing up, she was known to the children in the neighborhood as the neighborhood "mother." She was a good cook and baker, and loved to entertain family and friends. Her delightful personality made family and friend gatherings a joy. She will be deeply missed.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norm; her children, Beth (Jonathan) Tucker of Syracuse, Kara (Janine) Benson-LaBella of Loudonville and Andrew (Courtney) Tellier of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; her grandchildren: Aidan, Bria and Alexa LaBella, Gabriel Tucker, and Jack, Brady and Anna Cate Tellier. Also surviving are her sister, Charlene (Ray) Zaffuto; nieces, Kendra Zaffuto and Kaitlynn (Thomas) Arias; and great-niece, Ana Arias, all of Rochester, N.Y.; and a myriad of friends. She was also very fond of her great friend, Jeri Bosmanl her grandchildren's father, Vincent LaBella; sister-in-law, Lucile Manahan; and her Genesee Hospital fellow nursing school graduates (the Genny five), with whom she had a lifelong relationship.
The family wishes to extend its thanks to the staff and personnel of Albany Medical Center for their gracious and efficient care. We could not have asked for better care for her.
Visiting hours with the family will be held at Niskayuna Reformed Church Niskayuna Reformed Church, 3041 Troy-Schenectady Rd., Niskayuna, on Saturday, September 6 ,from 2-4 p.m. A memorial service giving thanks to God for Nancy, will be held Sunday, September 7, at 1 p.m., at the Niskayuna Reformed Church, with a reception to follow.

Nancy was so friendly and supportive when I sang next to her in Albany Pro Music Masterworks. I was already missing singing with her and am shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. My deep condolences to Norm, of whom she often spoke.

Norm & Family: we are on vacation & were shocked to learn of Nancy´s sudden passing. Having met many years ago on Delafield Dr & rekindling our friendship at ABC was a real joy! I will miss her smile & friendly banter in class.

So sorry for the loss of this wonderful lady, she was truly a joy to know.
My husband Gene and I enjoyed a beautiful experience with Nancy and Norm in Andalusia, Spain, with APM some years ago. She was gracious, kind and fun to be with. My sincere condolences to you and your family, Norm. Susie Zeltmann
