Mauro, Nicholas Anthony, Jr.
KINGSTON - Nicholas Anthony Mauro, Jr., known to his loved ones as Nick or Junior, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, at the age of 89 in Kingston, N.Y. He was born on October 16, 1934, in Schenectady, N.Y., to the late Nicholas A. Mauro Sr. and Mary D. (De Marco) Mauro. His career began as a newspaper carrier for the Schenectady Union Star, where he received an award for outstanding performance. He advanced within the paper to become the Manager of the Circulation Department. Nick's expertise led him to the position of Circulation Director for the Kingston Daily Freeman and eventually as a traveling problem solver for the Ingersoll chain. He concluded his distinguished career in the industry as a valued member of the Albany Times Union, retiring in 1999. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Chester N. Mauro, his sisters, Delores Ridley and Bernadine DeMatteo, his wife, Doris Mauro, and his stepson, Craig Plough.
Nick is survived by his children, Michael A. Mauro, Katherine M. Emsing, her husband John Emsing, Linda S. Gresens; stepdaughter, Jill Cahill and her husband Patrick; his grandchildren, Jonathan McCann, Chelsea McCann, Brianne Cahill and Patrick Cahill; and his great-grandsons Jonathan McCann II, and Zain Soto.
