Nora Becker Obituary

Becker, Nora ALBANY, N.Y. Nora Becker, of Whitehall Road, Albany, left her wonderful world on Monday, April 6, 2009. A vivacious woman who was loved by everyone whose life she touched, she leaves behind her husband Martin Becker; her two daughters, Gail Becker Shafner and Diane Lynne Hallen-beck; and the apple of her eye, her grandson, Skyler Robert Hallenbeck; a sister, Fanny Vener; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Essen, Germany in 1931 and came to this country after World War II. A Holocaust survivor, she was a "Hidden Child" in Belgium during the war. She and her husband taught the history and meaning of the Holocaust to young and old alike in order that the world should "never forget." An accountant by profession, she was, for several years president and CEO of Manor Ventures, Inc. "Noerchen" to her husband, "Mom" to her daughters and "Oma" to her grandson and his friends, she will remain in all of our memories forever. Her funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Avenue. Interment followed services in the Temple Israel Cemetery on Western Avenue in Guilderland, N.Y. Remembrances in her memory may be made to Temple Israel, the Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 315 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208. The family will be accepting visitors at the Becker residence, 290 Whitehall Road in Albany on Saturday and Sunday after 7:30 p.m. The family's thanks go out to Drs. Mrs.Becker was the most wonderful woman you could ever meet. i met her.at a time when she wasn't feeling well. but i tell you. that lady was my ANGEL here on earth before she had to be an angel in haven. she was sweet and never had anything bad to say. She loved to have her back and feet rub. while here. and i love to do it for her.her and her family. have been so wonderful. They are the reason why i love the job that i have, because to help others. and the fact that they know it's out of love, and love it too, is a blessing. so to Mrs. Nora Becker and family thank you for being my angel on earth.
