Pamela Stressel Obituary

Stressel, Pamela Ann
GUILDERLAND - Pamela Ann Stressel passed away December 10, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Pam fought pancreatic cancer for 26 months with grace, positivity, and humor.
Pam was born October 21, 1955 at St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens, N.Y., to the late Ernest F. and Ann Merrill Stressel.
Pam graduated Guilderland High School in 1973, where she was very active with band and musicals. After graduation, she spent a year in Holland as a Rotary Exchange Student. On her return home, she participated in The Outward Bound Experience, where spent a week sailing and pushing herself to the limits of what she thought she could do.
Pam attended Maria and Hartwick College earning her degree in Nursing. She excelled in the field at the VA, eventually becoming head nurse of the ICU and CCU. Pam served as the National Lead for Telehealth Data and Coding from 2008 until her retirement in 2021, playing a pivotal role in the program's expansion. Her efforts directly resulted in improvements in medical services and remote monitoring for more than 100,000 Veterans nationwide each year.
Pam attended many national conferences and led strategic planning sessions where her expertise helped Telehealth experience exponential growth and demonstrate the benefits of Telehealth. She is noted as a problem solver, always having a positive attitude and always willing to lend a hand. At the time of her retirement in 2021, Pam provided more than 38 years of selfless service to our Nation's Veterans.
Pam is survived by her husband, Tim Robert; sons: Brendan and Eric Wells; sisters: Linda Stressel, Nancy Robinson (Garry), Donna Tice (Darrin); nephew and nieces: Judd, Jenna, Jill Robinson and Natalie Tice, as well as Tim's family of four children and eight grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy Pamy 2.0 which she loved! Pam was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph L. Wells in 2013.
Pam will be missed for her selflessness, compassion, determination and ever-present humor by all who knew her.
A celebration of Pam's life will be held at a future time.

It´s with a heavy heart to hear about Pam. She truly was a compassionate person. My dad Ken, her Uncle, told me of her visit a number of years back. He so enjoyed her company. We had so many good memories growing-up in the Stressel family.
