Paul Mattice Obituary

Mattice, Paul
SCHENECTADY - Paul Mattice, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 11, at the age of 69. He was a graduate of the Culinary Arts program at Schenectady County Community College and loved cooking. Paul's talent in the kitchen brought joy to countless people and it was one of the many ways that he cared for the people that he loved.
He always helped people and one of his jobs was creating custom wheelchair seating, helping those with disabilities gain greater independence and mobility. His generosity extended far beyond his work - he was a devoted son, brother, and friend. After the passing of his parents, Paul became the primary caregiver to his brother, Mark, offering him love, comfort, and support in every way possible. Paul also loved scratch-off lottery tickets, always hopeful for a win - but in truth, his family felt they hit the jackpot the day he became their husband and father.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his sons, Sam and Jake (Bianca); his daughter, Hayley (Justin); and his grandson, Kaiden. He is also survived by his brothers, Mike, Brian, and Mark. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, and a deep commitment to his family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be missed dearly.
A private family service will be held to honor Paul's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the A.S.P.C.A., the Wounded Warrior Project, or a charity of your choice.

My heart is breaking to hear of Paul´s passing. He was a huge part of my childhood and always had a smile and gentle words whenever we would see each other ( which was never enough). He was one of the best!

Paul Mattice was one of the good guys! We fondly remember shared times as young adults, dancing on the edge of adulthood!! Gatherings at 210 Delaware, late nights and early mornings on "Avenue D", The Clippers, Pousette Dart Band, The Elbo Room, Tequila...the laughter and friendship remain alive and well in our hearts! Paul was an important part of our lives and had a place as a Best Man at our wedding!
We send hugs and prayers of comfort and peace to Karen and Loved Ones!
RIP Big Boy

"Big", as he was affectionately called, shared so much with others. He would bring Allen and me fish fries that he had cooked. Backyard barbecues and pool parties always featured his culinary delights. A fun guy to be around, quick with quips and witty remarks, perceptive and smart. "S'cuse please," navy grog and "cake in a bowl" were shared jokes. Paul "got" it. His devotion to his family and friends was unmatched. You will be sorely missed in this world, but Earth's loss is heaven's gain.
