Paul Speshock Obituary

Speshock, Paul J. MALTA Paul J. Speshock, 47, passed away on Friday, October, 3, 2014, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. How to put a man's life in a few paragraphs for the newspaper? Paul's answer would be "less is best." He preferred to be unknown and a mystery and that drove his children, in the age of social media, crazy! Family was most important to him. He attended every activity Jack, Alyson, Andie and Abbie were involved in. Jack's go- kart racing brought our family all up and down the East Coast and now every Friday night at the Albany Saratoga Speedway. Traveling was also an adventure accomplished by air but mostly by motor coach. Nothing says family bonding like six people speeding down I-95 for the month of February. Malta to Key West with pit stops in Disney and the Daytona 500. Paul only allotted stops of 45 minutes or less at The Flying J for fuel where the credit card was always blocked for fraud protection; Cracker Barrel, Outback, Waffle House and Krispy Kreme. It took most people three days to drive what Paul drove in consecutive hours. Paul was born in Patterson N.J., and then moved with his family north to Mineville. He worked with his family installing pools. Instead of attending his high school graduation, he started work at Kubricky Construction, Corp. While at Kubricky, he was everything from a laborer to equipment operator. In 1994, he went to work at Donnelly Construction Inc. In 1995, Donnelly Construction Inc. became a true family small business when he married Carrie Donnelly Speshock. Paul's transition from a laborer, to a business manager was always met with respect from his employees and the many, many customers and vendors he was in contact with on a daily basis. Paul never asked anyone to do anything that he himself hadn't or wouldn't do. Paul continued to work through his illness. Paul took his diagnoses of glioblastoma personally. His brain was his greatest asset, there was nothing he couldn't solve. Nothing. except for this tumor. It was not for lack of trying by his whole network of family and friends. He is survived by his wife Carrie Donnelly Speshock and their children, son Jack and daughters, Alyson, Andie and Abbie. Paul is predeceased by his mother and father, Michael and Sally (Carson) Speshock, and his brother David Speshock. He is survived by sisters, Wendy Speshock, Sally Ann Speshock, Tracey Speshock and Jennifer (Todd) Cuttler, and a very dear niece, Thomasina (Scott) Clarke. He is also survived by his brother Michael "Spoo" Speshock and his companion Stephanie Snyder; stepmother, Brenda Speshock; and daughter Heather Sherman. Paul has a wonderful extended family of nieces and nephews. In respect to Paul's wishes, there will be storytelling, eating, and drinking at Saratoga National on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 3 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the Make A Wish of Northeast New York. wish.org/ways-to-help/ giving/donate?chapterid =060-000 Thank you to Dr. Weaver and the staff at NYOH Albany; all our family, friends, employees, customers, and neighbors.

Carrie, and the Speshock Family. We are terribly sorry for this great loss. God had other plans for him, Heaven needed Paul's witty laughter. Paul has left his stamp on all of us, that will walk with us down Speshock Lane forever. When you are tired and only see one set of footprints it's because Paul picked you up and carried you to lighten the load as he always did in life. He came from thee best family that we were all proud to know and at the end of the day we loss one of our best friends.

Carrie and Family, You don't know me, but I've known Paul and his family in Mineville for years! I was Mike's football coach, and my son played football with Mikey! I am Scott and Tommy's neighbor! My son, Timmy, helps to coach Christopher's baseball team! My name is Tim Breeyear. I just want you to know how I thought of Paul! I always called him Paul E. Wog! I 've known him since he was a kid. He, to me, even though he became rich and important, never changed! He was always Paul, whenever you saw him! He didn't change! Like I told his sister Sally, what a guy he was! I know he would not want you to be sad! I will have a beer for him, and I'll pray for you folks! I'll think of him often, and when I do, I will smile! You were very lucky to have had him in your lives, as I'm sure he was lucky to have all of you! May God Bless you and smile down on all of you! I am truly sorry for your tragic loss of such a great guy! Many, many other folks, are feeling the same as I am, I'm sure! God Bless him! R.I.P. Paul E. Wog!

Paul, you are one of the most genuine, sincere and generous people I have come to know, work with and ultimately call a friend. While it was often hard to tell when you were pulling my leg, when it was time to get down to business there was never any doubt where you stood. You are a true gentleman in every aspect of your life and that reflects in your beautiful family. Our hearts are wrapped around them.
As we all struggle with the impossiblity of making sense of this, the one thing that is easy to understand is that you didn't need an entire lifetime to earn your place in heaven. You are a true gift to everyone who knows you.
